I'm back but this time it is to stay...

March 16th, 2006 at 09:22 pm

Lets see... I currently work full time and attend school full time all while trying to figure out ways to cut back and pay off my enourmous debt. (which is a result of school, too much shopping and basically pretending I had all this money that I didnt). I recently just moved back home so I know longer pay rent, utlities or groceries. I want to be out of debt as soon as possible and am willing to take drastic steps to make it happen. If anyone has any comments or suggestions ever, please, no matter how brutal send em my way. I read this site everyday and love it. But I have to have discipline and tough love to get through this. Thanks for reading... Keep your posts coming.. I LOVE EM>. I will update my debt amounts and income tomorrow Smile

Thanks, Flash. I am ready for Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and all.. Now just spending all my income on debt repayment is the plan.

Check out the book "Cash In the City" by Juliette Fairley. Perfect for you!

I just looked it up and it sounds so interesting. I found a library near me has it so Im going to stop by after work and pick it up.

    Thanks Smile

Kristina- It is much easier to stick to a plan when 1. you are committed to it and 2. you have a good support system (friends and family). I have a 20 something daughter- and I recently helped her with a plan. Sometimes it just takes a few tweaks to get on the right path...1. challenge your expenses - are there any that can be eliminated or reduced? 2. STOP using credit for non-emergencies. 3. Pay yourself first. (save a little of everything you make) 4. Know where every dollar goes...keep a spending journal. 5. Make a list of at least 20 things you like to do that costs nothing- then try to check every one of them off each month instead of ...whatever the spending weakness is. The good news, YOU CAN DO IT!!
